Maybe I should just rename this thing Alex's musical blog of never ending songitude!

Not Your Lover

Like a car driving down the highway we push the accelerator
and feel our bodies pressed against the seat
But we can only go so fast because the end of this road
is a dead end; a one way street
The distance between us can't be measured in miles
because no matter how fast you drive, you still have to go
It's at that point where all things break down
and we realize that we are both covered in snow

I can't feel like a lover
When you're not around
I can't feel like a lover
Whenever you are gone

The gleaming sweat off our bodies isn't really enough
to fool us into thinking you'll never have to leave
But just for these moments the heat coalescing
will let the truth go on to be deceived
A minute later it is Sunday and you'll be stepping out
back on the road to a place more like home
It takes a few hours for it to really sink in
and only then do I realize that we are both alone

I can't feel like a lover
When you're not around
I can't feel like a lover
Whenever you are gone

I don't feel like a lover
No, I am not your lover

I can't feel like a lover
When you're not around
I can't feel like a lover
Whenever you are gone
